World of Warcraft Upgrades and Item Upgrading
Upgrades boost the value of certain numeric stats on weapons, armor and rings. Upgrades can also boost bonuses like Crit chance and damage from PvE.
For example a weapon that has the upgrade template that is ending in % will suffer an attack damage of 3% each time it is upgraded (relative to its previous value).
Item upgrading costs crests and the current level of the item. The cost increases as the level of the item increases.
Components
Upgrade components are items that can be slotted into weapons, armor, and trinkets to provide a stat bonus or extra impact while they're being used. These can be obtained through crafting, purchasing from vendors trading or looting. Certain upgrades also come with specific cosmetic effects.
Upgrade components are only available to equipment that has a slot. The item must be upgraded to blue before the component can be applied. Upgrade components, unlike other modifications, can only be applied once. They cannot be replaced or applied multiple times. Infusions and enrichments are a special kind of upgrade component used for non-amulet ascended and legendary equipment, as well as some of the items that are not ascending back. Infusions and Enrichments can be obtained by salvaging ascended equipment or by completing a mission within the Prophecies, Factions, and Nightfall campaigns.
A prefix or suffix may be added to an upgrade, changing the name of the item it's applied to (for example, 'Canthan Armor Insignia,' is changed to Canthan Armor Minor Vigor). Certain upgrades boost the Mark Level or Rarity, allowing players make stronger versions of the equipment that require the smallest amount of Upgrade Crystals than would be required to reach the same level of upgrade using normal methods.
A 'boost upgrade' can modify the attack or defense attributes of a weapon or armor. These upgrades are available to be made using the Portative Forging Station once the player has completed the cutscene, and defeats the Crazed mechanic. They can also be dropped by enemies when upgrading other gear, or by buying them from the cash shop for 500 upgrade crystals.
Each upgrade increases the probability that a better-quality version of an item will be dropped at the next reset. This gives players the opportunity to upgrade their gear, even when they're not sure how much it will be improved following a reset.
The process of upgrading an item could be costly, and it is possible that the item will be obsolete, or even break, if the upgrade is unsuccessful. Upgrade Crystals and assist powder are also destroyed when the upgrade fails. This is reduced by the availability of cash shop items that can double or even eliminate possibility of failure, and a few upgrades that give the benefit of being reinserted into an item.
Glyphs
Glyphs can be used to enhance the Paragon Board by placing them in sockets with special functions. Glyphs can boost the performance of nodes within a radius, including any pre-existing attaches. Glyphs are upgraded in many ways. We recommend upgrading them as quickly as possible up to 15 levels.
You'll often see in the endgame that placing Glyphs is the most effective way to upgrade your equipment. They are the only upgrade component that can be upgraded straight to level 15 and provide significant boosts to your power and radius on the Paragon Board, enabling you to climb higher nodes much faster.
Most of the upgrades in the game can be replaced, however, Glyphs are only the one upgrade component that can be removed and put back in place without restrictions. Only legendary equipment can be salvaged and replaced with the help of a Black Lion Salvage Kit.
Each Glyph has a certain range of values that it can improve a statistic by, and the value is shown when you select the Glyph in your inventory. You can decide to replace it with another Glyph with the same rank, or a higher rank, which will boost the value of the Glyph.
You can find Glyphs in the Black Lion Trading Post, as part of an Gem Store purchase or bundle with certain tools for gathering unlimited use, and through Faction Crypt raids. Every Faction Crypt has a chance to drop one of the numerous Glyphs and there are also a few rare glyphs that can be found in the form of drops from any of the four Faction Crypts.
Once you have gotten the desired Glyphs you'll need them to be placed on your gear. Each Glyph unlocks a unique bonus that will boost a particular set of stat nodes in the vicinity of the Glyph. Based on the Glyph it could be +40 to one of your primary stats or +25 to two of your secondary stats.
Glyphs increase the number of nodes connected to them, so it is recommended to place Glyphs in strategic spots on the Graph. This will increase the impact. For instance that a Druid should aim to place their Glyphs near their primary damage nodes, but you should also consider placing them near critical damage nodes as well.
Leveling
The upgrade system for items allows players to increase the stats of certain items by placing upgraded components into them. This is referred to as "upping". Each upgradeable item comes with a level that determines its final upgraded stats. Upgraded items can be leveled up to a maximum level of 385 ilvl. Each level of an item requires different components, and the cost of upgrading increase with each level.
Certain upgrades require a specific ingredient to activate. This ingredient can be obtained by finishing Upgrade Recipes. These recipes can be purchased from NPCs or on the upgrade tab of a crafting table. Each Upgrade Recipe that is completed yields a certain number of Technology points. These points can be used to upgrade the item, and once enough points are earned, the upgrade will be claimed and its additional bonuses will be added to the item.
When the player upgrades a piece of equipment it will be replaced with the new item. This means that the same piece of armor will be transformed into a weapon or shield when upgraded. The new item will also have its own set bonus. This could be a drawback, as the item can be more expensive even if you do not need it.
The upgrades to items can be rerolled if the player has enough reroll tokens in order to do so. This will cause the item to be exchanged for a new one, which will have an initial level and a different set of bonuses. This can be useful for some items, but it shouldn't be performed frequently, since it could waste a lot of resources.
Certain upgrades can boost their value, allowing players to customize their gear. Dolphin's Gift is a good example, as it gives a buff if the player repeatedly enters or leaves the water. The item can be upgraded several times by increasing the maximum roll every time by 10 increments. This item is very valuable in PvP. A perfectly rolled version could be worth 50 times the value of its non-upgraded version.
Requirements
Item upgrading allows players to increase the quality of their equippable gear--armor, weapons and trinkets over ilvl 385 by presenting the appropriate currency and items to an item upgrader NPC. Upgrades to armor set pieces also boost the defense of the base set, while upgrades to weapon items increase their base damage as well as the required strength and dexterity.
Each item can be upgraded a maximum of five times, with the exception of hero gear that can be upgraded with eight upgrades. Every each time you upgrade an item it has a chance to fail--the failure rate increases the farther you go beyond the maximum number of upgrades. Failures will result in the item returning to its original condition, which requires the player to spend additional materials than if they had stopped upgrading after the maximum number.
If an item is not upgraded, the experience bar in its growth bar will be reset to zero. upgrade item will also lose any bonuses it has gained like chances to be crit damage to attack, additional effects (such as an increase in healing over time or reloading speed). However, the player can still continue to use the weapon or armor after the failure.
When an item is upgraded the upgrades are applied from lowest to highest. upgrade item means that if a weapon gains a crit chance increase that it will be applied prior to any damage from attacks increases. A new attribute known as Slots has been added to the item definition and the value is computed every time an upgrade is made.
The amount of resources needed to upgrade an item is determined on the rarity rating and the number of upgrade slots. The cost of upgrading equipment that is not premium is equal to its base value. For instance an item that is commonplace could have five upgrades at a cost. 25,600 Technology Points and a 4x Quality Improvement Chance. Hero grade items will have an incredibly lower cost for each upgrade.
Premium items have different requirements for upgrading than standard gear--for instance, they may require fewer sowels, but more minerals and erons. Whatever the case, players must visit the NPC [Armorthe ] Boboko in Central Flarine with each piece of equipment they want to upgrade. Each equipment upgrade will require different amounts of ingredients for upgrading, in addition to the costs listed above.
